What happens in a Habitat Dance class?

At Habitat Dance Studio, each class is a blend of structured learning, joyful exploration, and skill-building. We begin with a warm-up to prepare little bodies for movement, followed by age-appropriate ballet fundamentals like posture, coordination, and rhythm. Creative activities such as acting out stories, using props, and exploring emotions keep classes imaginative and engaging. Music is central, helping dancers develop musicality and timing, while teamwork and social skills are fostered in a supportive environment. Classes also incorporate conditioning exercises to build strength, flexibility, and balance. The Ballet Plus program offers even more, including conditioning, jazz, contemporary, improvisation, and additional opportunities to expand dance skills. Every class ends with a cool-down and recap, leaving students confident and excited for their next dance adventure!

What should my child wear?

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable dancewear appropriate for ballet, such as leotards and tights. Detailed uniform guidelines will be provided upon enrollment.

Is there a trial class option?

Yes! We offer trial classes so your child can experience the joy of dancing before enrolling.

Do you have a concert?

Yes! We will be having a Spring Showcase, at the end of Term 3. More information to be provided in 2025! We will then finish Term 4 with a stunning presentation class and awards ceremony.

What is a Ballet Exam?

A ballet exam with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is a fun and exciting way for dancers to showcase their progress and celebrate their hard work! RAD exams are designed to be a positive experience, where students perform a series of movements they’ve learned in class, demonstrating their skills, artistry, and creativity. With each level, dancers explore new techniques and choreography, all while building confidence and having fun. RAD exams are not just about assessment – they’re about setting goals, feeling a sense of achievement, and enjoying the journey of dance! Plus, receiving feedback from experienced examiners helps dancers grow and improve in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Can’t see a class for your child’s age?

Habitat Dance begins classes for 7 years and up. If your child is under 7 years old, we recommend Tiny Toes Ballet.
